Love’s Labor’s Lost?

on August 30, 2010

Love’s Labour’s Lost, or Love’s Labours Lost or Loves Lobour’s Lost: Is the Labor of Love being lost? Or is Love lost in Labor?

Shakespeare’s earliest comedy, from its inception, gets right to the root of what many of us may see as, the confusion of dating and relationships at their core. Should we fight (Labor) for our love or does too much effort (Labor) create a disconnect in our ability to achieve and feel love. Shakespeare’s ambiguous title gets your gears shifting. What is the point of Love? Should we work as hard as we do to find it? While one friend tells me, “don’t worry about it,” another sets me up on a date whenever she can, in that same breathe, my grandmother seems to be losing faith for her apt granddaughter to find a nice boy to make her happy.
